As the day of the anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster nears, I am reposting this story by Ceri Jackson, BBC News, written for the 50th anniversary of the Disaster.

Absolutely heartbreaking, remember watching the news with my mum and dad.
I learned about it through a song my Mom had written at the time. We lived in Virginia, but the news was around the world.
Such a sad, sad time. God bless those poor kids that died. I cried so hard that day.
I can’t comprehend how I’d feel, so unbearable the force.
